Hiya!
If you follow me on social media, you may have seen a glimpse of the nails I wore the other day for the NFL Divisional Playoff games! Living in Australia means I had to get up at 4am to watch my Packers play. Worth it! It was a great game, and I was prepared, thanks to my new green stamping polish from Born Pretty Store, and my custom-made plate by the lovely Cassandra of FigTreeJewellery!
I wanted a simple base for my stamping, so I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (off-white) and Zoya Darcy (golden yellow) and a makeup sponge to create a gradient. These are both lovely opaque cremes that blend nicely and went on easily.
I received three Born Pretty Store stamping polishes recently, and this green is one of them. It's a nice bright-yet-deep green with a golden shimmer, and works great for its intended purpose. I'm always a bit skeptical of shimmery stamping polishes, since generally, shimmery polishes aren't very opaque in one coat and you tend to get all sparkles and no pigment with such a thin coat. Not the case here! You get both the lovely green and the pretty shimmer in the stamped image. On the ring finger, you can see the thicker dots compared to the stamp, and there isn't a lot of difference! It's awesome.
Now let's talk about the plate! OMG. FigTreeJewellery makes custom stamping plates, with any images you like! I saw this Packers-themed plate and, being such a diehard supporter, just HAD to have it.
The plate itself is very good quality--thicker than any of my other plates and clearly made of a different type of metal. The etching is perfect and crisp. Cassandra creates these plates and tests them herself before shipping to make sure every image stamps well. I will definitely be commissioning more plates from her! It's a little pricey, but worth it to be able to create your favourite designs any time you want :D
As you can see, I used three of the images for this design. I added the dots around the G logo on the ring finger with the same polish and a dotting tool, just to make it look more complete. On the index and small fingers, I used one coat my trusty green-and-yellow glitter mix called-what else?--Go Pack Go!, from BadAssPolish. Another nail product I just had to have when I saw it :D I got it a couple of years ago and I don't think it's still available, but it's great! It's pretty thick and requires a little bit of placement to get the yellow hexes where you want them, but worth it since you only need one coat most of the time.
I topped this all with Seche Vite.
I like to think my nails helped my favourite team win ;) now I'll just need to do something similar next week against Seattle! I think that game will be a bit more of a challenge. Polished fingers crossed!
Have a lovely day, and come back soon :) xoxo
*Edit: I realise the layout of this mani is very similar to another one I did... I'll change it up next time!

Please excuse the relatively bad photo--it was taken with my phone |
